Pirates
I love pirates. I have been infatuated by them long before Johnny Depp became the Ultimate Pirate. Last night I went with [info]skaldheim  [info]swtalmnd ,[info]jacesan  , to a Pirate Haunted House in Fremont . It was AWESOME! I really did not want to leave. I'm really not a very participatory person at concerts, baseball games, etc. I don't do the organized clapping, let's go who-ever kinda thing. Oh man! Did I want to be a pirate last night! It was soo cool! I wanted to have my pirate hat and sword and necklace and skeleton key and what ever else I could find and just blend in and stay forever. There was an incredible strobe light maze which was disorienting and even more fun when other people came in and I thought they were part of my group and grabbed them by mistake. A really neat 3-d underwater tunnel and then The Haunted Ship. Aw man! They kept pushing me forward and I wanted to look around and just live in there. There really was so much to see and touch my favorite was the giant alligator or crocodile, what ever it was. It was quite fabulous. Jeff has promised to take me back. I am not sure if I can only go back once.

I became a pirate fan after seeing Swashbuckler in the late 70s. Yes. I even own a copy of Cutthroat Island. And that movie's horrible. A Gena Davis vehicle thrown together by her boyfriend/husband(?). Muppet Treasure Island had better acting. Tim Curry makes an awesome pirate. While I think Johnny Depp does a wonderful job portraying Jack Sparrow, Tim Curry's Jezebel Jack in Pirates of the Plain runs an awfully close second.

Thanks for coming with me! I thought the giant rat skeleton was neat when I first walked by it on the way to the maze. I couldn't believe it when it came to life later on. :D

You rule! No one else knows that movie! I don't remember not loving pirates. I think I have been fascinated by them since I first learned of them in 3rd grade or what ever. I've always wanted to dive for a sunken ship. I was very fortunate to make my one trip out of the country to Barbados and when I was there it was so cool and easy to think of pirates being there. I was in the harbor and one churchyard where I saw things dated from 1636 or something like that it was really very special. I did not know it was a rat skeleton! ha!ha! Thank you for telling us about it. We're definitely going back and we'll let you know when. I think we're flying Amy back out...heeehehehehehee

My brother argued that it wasn't a rat, and it looked more like a gollum skeleton. Whatever it was, it was creepy as hell.

Barbados sounds like it'd be nice to visit. I've always wanted to visit Port Royale, or Tortuga. Hell, any place in the Caribbean would be fun. And yes, becoming scuba certified so I could look for sunken pirate ships is part of the agenda as well. That, or just lying on a beach for three days drinking rum. ;)

I'm not sure. I like the idea of a Gollum skeleton but I'm thinkin pirate rat is most likely.

I wanted to go to Barbados since I was about 10 and read about it. My dream was to eat a mango on the beach which I got to do. I went on a replica pirate ship which was really neat it was fake but had the wooden ship vibe. I got to snorkel a little which was cool but I couldn't quite get the hang of it. I would like to SCUBA but I'm afraid I really would look like a Big-Ol-Seal to a shark, maybe someday. HEEE.. It was a really fabulous beautiful experience, I went by myself which was OK but not what I really wanted to do. I got lucky and my sister and her husband were there at the same time and we spent one day together. It was really cool. We sent snorkeling and went on a horse ride on the beach. It really was everything I could have imagined. I hope I can go back with Jeff someday as it really is something that would be more fun with a companion. Oh yeah, and the rum punch! The best! Next time you come over we'll have some Barbados rum! I have some in the cupboard....
